Big news this week: n8n, the automation platform redefining how teams build workflows, has reached a $2.5 billion valuation following its latest funding round (source: Sifted).
At 8kit, we’re genuinely thrilled to see this milestone — because our own journey has been deeply shaped by what n8n represents. Long before this valuation, we backed n8n for its technical strengths and used it extensively across complex customer projects. That experience became one of the sparks behind 8kit itself.
Why we backed n8n early
When we first evaluated n8n for automation and integration work, several qualities stood out — and those same strengths continue to define its success today:
-
Unmatched flexibility
n8n goes far beyond simple drag-and-drop automation. It gives developers full control with custom nodes, logic, and integrations — perfect for projects that need something bespoke. -
Open and extensible architecture
Its open-source roots and modular design made it easy to adapt and extend, letting us connect diverse systems and APIs without compromise. -
Reliability at scale
n8n proved capable of handling production workloads — not just prototypes. We saw it perform under pressure, across multiple business-critical automation flows. -
Thriving community and rapid innovation
The platform’s fast evolution, strong contributor base, and pace of feature delivery demonstrated that this wasn’t a passing trend — it was a growing movement. -
A forward-looking vision for AI orchestration
As founder Jan Oberhauser put it:“The fundamental challenge for the largest organisations isn’t accessing AI, it’s orchestrating it effectively.”
That vision aligns with the same challenges we see our customers facing daily.
From experience to innovation: how 8kit was born
After years of implementing automation solutions powered by n8n, we saw recurring needs emerge — the kind that no single workflow engine was designed to solve out of the box.
We found that organisations wanted:
-
Simpler ways to manage complex workflows, with better visibility and governance
-
Tools to scale automation safely, with clear observability, testing, and version control
-
Abstraction layers so non-developers could collaborate confidently without breaking things
Recognising those patterns, we created 8kit — a platform inspired by our hands-on experience building with n8n and similar technologies. 8kit adds the structure, tooling, and control layers enterprises need to scale automation across teams and departments, while still leveraging the flexibility of workflow engines like n8n underneath.
Why n8n’s success matters
This new valuation is more than a financial milestone but also it’s a validation of a philosophy:
that accessible, developer-friendly orchestration is the future of automation and AI integration.
For us, it reaffirms the foundation that 8kit was built on. As n8n continues to grow and evolve, it strengthens the broader ecosystem of tools, ideas, and practices we rely on to help our customers automate intelligently and responsibly.
Looking ahead
We’re excited to see where n8n goes next, and equally excited about how 8kit can continue to help teams take workflow automation further, faster, and safer.
To the n8n team and community: congratulations on this milestone. You’ve set a new benchmark for what open, flexible automation can achieve — and the entire ecosystem is stronger for it.
